North Long Lake is located in Crow Wing County and is a good fishing lake for a variety of species. In spring, fish the reedy flats of the two bays. Most of North Long Lake consists of flats of 15 feet or less, with scattered clumps of cabbage weeds, and the flats off the south, east and north shores produce well on Lindy rigs or trolled crankbaits. After working the flats, find the sunken islands and troll or drift the weedbreaks at 15-25 feet with live bait rigs. Troll the emergent weeds for Northern Pike in the spring, and move to the 15-20 foot breaks in the main lake in the summer. The cabbage weeds are a good bet for all varieties after the water warms. Walleye are stocked annually. North Long Lake has an average depth of 8 feet, with a maximum depth of 97 feet.
